Karl Wright

Co-Founder | Blue Line Health & Wellness Group

Karl Wright is a currently serving police officer with a large municipal police service in the Greater Toronto Area, bringing over 20 years of frontline experience in law enforcement. Throughout his career, Karl worked in high-stress operational environments and is peer-support trained, supporting colleagues through critical incidents and periods of significant personal and professional challenge.
In 2011, Karl developed post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following a major officer-involved incident. Continued exposure to traumatic events, including another major incident in 2016, contributed to the cumulative psychological impact that ultimately led to his PTSD diagnosis.
Blue Line Health & Wellness Group was co-founded by Karl out of lived experience and a deep commitment to supporting those who help others. His vision is rooted in creating a safe, respectful, and trauma-informed environment for first responders and their families — one that recognizes the unique pressures of service and the importance of addressing both mental and physical health.
Karl believes that meaningful healing must consider the mind, body, and nervous system, particularly when working with trauma-exposed populations. This philosophy is embedded in every aspect of Blue Line’s integrated model of care.

Terri Jackson MSW, RSW, BA (hon)

I believe therapy works best when it is collaborative, supportive, and practical. I typically work from a cognitive-behavioral lens, while also taking an empathic, client-centered approach that recognizes you as an active part of the therapeutic process. Therapy is a space to build skills, increase self-understanding, and make meaningful changes so you can begin living life in a way that feels more aligned with your values.
I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness practices, Emotional Intelligence skill-building, Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and families. With over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, I work from a strength-based, trauma-informed perspective that respects each client’s unique experiences and resilience.
I have extensive professional and personal experience working with emergency service personnel and their families. I understand the unique challenges of high-stress and high-risk roles, including exposure to trauma, cumulative stress, shift work, emotional suppression, and the impact these demands can have on mental health, relationships, and family life. My approach is grounded in respect, confidentiality, and an appreciation for the strength it takes to do this work, while also supporting healthier coping, communication, and balance at home and at work.
I hold a Master of Social Work from the University of Windsor and an Honours undergraduate degree in Sociology from Brock University.

Registered Psychotherapist R.P

Seeking professional support for mental well-being is no longer optional. It is essential!
As a Registered Psychotherapist (R.P.) with 26 years in private practice, I work primarily from a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) framework with a strong emphasis on resilience, mental performance, and emotional well-being. My work includes military counselling, where I support active-duty members and veterans in navigating operational stress, identity shifts, transitions, and post-service adjustment.
As a Certified Mental Game Coach, I integrate performance psychology to help clients strengthen mental toughness, self-awareness, and emotional regulation in demanding environments. Whether working with athletes, professionals in high-stakes roles, or military personnel, I provide practical, tailored strategies to manage stress, improve decision-making under pressure, and sustain mental resilience over time. Psychotherapy offers a structured and supportive space for both individuals and couples to address patterns that interfere with well-being, performance, and connection. In individual therapy, I help clients work through anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, self-doubt, and major life transitions by building insight, emotional regulation, and adaptive coping skills.
For couples, therapy focuses on challenges such as communication breakdowns, unresolved conflict, emotional distance, and trust concerns. Through a collaborative and grounded approach, couples can develop clearer communication, stronger emotional connection, and more effective ways of navigating stress together. Whether you are facing personal challenges, relationship strain, or recurring patterns that no longer serve you, psychotherapy provides a steady path toward clarity, resilience, and meaningful change.
From psychotherapy for personal growth to high-performance mental coaching, I work alongside clients to build resilience, strengthen practical coping skills, support healthy relationships, and refine the focused mindset needed to perform and recover under pressure

ASHLEY SMITH, MSW (Cand), BSW (Hon), RSW

I am an Ontario-based Registered Social Worker with two decades of experience in correctional, child welfare, and community mental health settings. I work with adults and families who are dealing with cumulative stress, trauma exposure, burnout, and the demands that come with high-risk work.
I’ve worked in correctional and institutional environments and understand how shift work and sustained exposure to crisis and risk gradually erodes well-being over time. I’ve seen what it takes to stay composed in environments where there isn’t much room for vulnerability. The focus and vigilance required on shift don’t simply disappear when you walk through your front door. Many of the people I work with are highly capable and respected in their roles but feel wired, shut down, or disconnected in their personal lives.
Therapy with me is steady and practical, but it’s also reflective. Some sessions are skills-based and involve building tools for emotional regulation, improving communication, managing anger, or working on sleep. Other times, we slow down and look at patterns that have developed over the years. I use CBT, DBT skills, ACT, and nervous system regulation strategies, but I also draw from psychodynamic approaches to help you make sense of your story.
That often means exploring how your work has shaped you, what parts of yourself have been strengthened, and what parts may have been pushed aside. We look at how you learned to cope, how those patterns show up now, and how you want to move forward. The goal isn’t to dissect you. It’s to help you understand yourself more clearly and decide, intentionally, who you want to be both on and off the job.
I work well with people who are used to carrying a lot without talking about it. Therapy is straightforward and confidential. We move at a pace that makes sense. There is room for direct conversation, for silence, for humor, and for hard truths when needed.

I commonly support people with:

JESSICA VANWYNGAARDEN, MSW, RSW, BHSc

Growing up, I always had the desire to connect with people and engage in meaningful conversations, and that led me to working with others as a therapist. Through my own personal experiences, I’ve learned how important it is to show up for people and simply be with them in the most difficult and uncomfortable moments of their lives.
I have in-depth experience working with first responders in individual therapy, in addition to spouses and family members of those in the field. I have worked with first responders (police, firefighters, and paramedics) for the majority of my career as a Mobile Crisis Mental Health Worker working alongside police officers. Therefore, I have lived experience of the unique lifestyle of shift work, the culture in the workplace, and the high exposure to trauma, and how that impacts day to day life.
I support individuals in working through stress, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, self-esteem issues, relationship conflict, family conflict, history of trauma, childhood abuse, domestic violence, grief/loss, major life transitions, and so much more. I support spouses, family members, friends, and caregivers of anyone struggling with mental health, addiction, or chronic illness.
My therapeutic approach is supportive, collaborative, empowering, patient, and non-judgmental. I am dedicated to providing a space in which people feel safe and comfortable exploring their goals.
I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) Therapist and I utilize this innovative method, when applicable, so that my clients can feel concrete changes, healing, and growth in their sessions.
